So, today is St. Patrick's Day... YAY! It's more of a "make believe" holiday. At least for me, anyways. I'm not Catholic, and I'm not Irish, so why is there a reason to celebrate this day?
I remember when I was little, getting so excited for St. Patrick's Day. (I also remember getting excited for EVERY holiday that was ever talked about in elementary school, but that's besides the point.) Well, my mom would always dress Lauren and I up SOOOO cute in green. Lauren and I thought it was so cool that once we were dressed, we'd go in and wake my dad up and see if he was wearing green, and if he wasn't, we'd pinch him! (Mom made sure to tell us that we were only allowed to pinch Dad, and DEFINITELY no one at school!) I just remember St. Patrick's Day was so fun, because for dinner, she'd dye all of our food GREEN and tell us that the leprechaun snuck into our kitchen while the food was cooking and turned all of our food green. Oh, and I remember she'd make chicken nuggets (we surprisingly weren't big fans of chicken nuggets) and she'd tell us that they were like lumps of gold! My mom was so creative and made things so fun.
I know that it sounds weird, but I cannot wait to be a mom and get to do these things with my own children. I did it with the girls that I used to nanny, and they thought it was AWESOME!
This year, I was so excited for it to finally get close to St. Patrick's Day, because Mc Donald's serves these shakes called Shamrock shakes. They are seriously... AMAZING! When I was little, my dad loved them, so he'd take Lauren and I through the drive-thru for Shamrock shakes, and we'd get to share one. For those of you who don't know what a Shamrock shake is, it is a GREEN mint shake. I guess kind of like mint-n-chip, but there is not chip to this mint. And, they are so good, and just remind me of my childhood. And, they also remind me of last year, when I got my appendix out, on the way home from the hospital my mom drove through Mc Donald's and got me a Shamrock shake and french fries, because I couldn't eat real food yet.
Well, anyways, this has been ENOUGH rambling for me on this fabulous SPRING St. Patrick's Day! I hope that your St. Patrick's Day has been tons of fun!
