EFY 2009 BC

So, I figured that I would give you an update. I did not get hired to be a BC for this summer. I didn't really think that I would get hired, so I'm not too disappointed. But, yep I didn't get it. I guess that's a good thing for Brandon and I though. Now, I won't be away from him all summer! I have my interview to be a counselor for this summer, January 12th. We'll see what happens there!

Home for Thanksgiving!

So, I had to wait a little while to post this. But, I'm home for Thanksgiving, and then some! Why you may ask did I have to wait to post this? I had to wait because I was surprising my family, with the exception of my mom.

I was talking to my friend Travis on Wednesday afternoon, and he told me that he was visiting up in Provo, and that he would love it if I drove back home with him. So, I told him that if I could find a way back to Provo, I would love to ride back with him. That was when I got to work. I started calling all of my friends who I knew were driving home for Thanksgiving, looking for a ride back. Then, calling both of my parents to see if they could buy me a plane ticket, and nothing was working! Finally, I got a hold of my dad, and he told me a DEFINITE no, on getting me a plane ticket. And, we ended up in this HUGE fight. I then called my mom and told her that I wouldn't be coming home, when she told me that she would buy my ticket! I was so excited!

So, now, here I am, sitting at home, enjoying the warmth! I will be here until Tuesday Dec. 2nd. I am so thankful to my mom, who actually wanted me home for Thanksgiving. I totally shocked Lauren, and Nathan swears like he wasn't surprised. I spent all day yesterday with Lauren. I seriously miss that! She is my best friend in the whole world, and being about a 10-hour ride from her is so hard. Besides Brandon, she is probably the hardest to be away from. She understands me better than anyone else, besides Brandon! I'm excited though, to be home and to have gotten to spend some time with her! I'm looking forward to Tuesday, when I get to spend more time with her!

Thanksgiving

Dear Reader,

I was searching the internet for a good poem to use for my FHE lesson last night, and I came across this one. And, I feel like it describes my life perfectly.

The author is unknown
"Thanksgiving Day"
As Thanksgiving Day rolls around,
It brings up some facts, quite profound.
We may think that we're poor,
Feel like bums, insecure
But in truth, our riches astound.

We have friends, and family we love;
We have guidance from Heaven above.
We have so much more
Than they sell in a store,
We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.

So add up your blessing, I say;
Make Thanksgiving last more than a day.
Enjoy what you've got
Realize it's a lot
And you'll make all your cares go away.

And, I realize while I was reading this, that too many people take Thanksgiving for granted. Thanksgiving isn't just a day to sit and eat as much turkey as possible. (Although, that is what I thought when I was little.) But, it is truly a day to give thanks for all of the blessing we have. As a 20-year old college student, I realize that I don't have a whole lot, but what I do have, I've got a lot! I have the love of family and friends, I have the knowledge that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me, and I know that Jesus is my Lord and Savior and he was crucified and atoned for my sins!

So, I ask you, that you remember this Thanksgiving day all of the many blessings that you have, and don't forget them once the day is over. God doesn't stop loving you just because the day is over, he loves you 24/7, 365 days a year.

Love you!
Terri Ann

Snow?

Where is it? That's what I'd sure like to know. I was told when I moved out here, that it starts snowing here around Halloween, and we're almost to Thanksgiving, and it has only snowed once here! What is this? I feel like I've gotten jipped! ha ha ha. Everyone says that I will not be saying this come March, but right now, I want my snow! ha ha ha.

Mamma Mia!

So, tonight I had a fabulous night with my MGs! LOVED IT! We went to the mall, walked around, window shopped, and browsed some of my favorite stores. Then, we went to Cafe Rio for dinner. OOOH, Cafe Rio, for those of you who haven't been there, it is a MUST the next time you are in Provo (or pretty much anywhere in Utah, I think). Well, I got my usual, a carne asada burrito with black beans and red sauce. (I'm not a fan of green sauce, but they do have it.) Then, while we were sitting there eating, we decided, why not go to the dollar theater and watch Mamma Mia? SERIOUSLY, best decision EVER! We got to the theater at about 8:00, and the movie didn't start till 9:35, so we went back to the mall and window shopped some more. After we were all done window shopping (and for those of you who really know me, know that I CANNOT stand window shopping, so I basically got my fill for the year! ha ha ha) we went back to the theater. And, it was time to watch Mamma Mia. I was so excited to see it. I wanted to watch it this summer when it came out, but I was too busy working EFY, I didn't have a chance to go see it. Plus, the only times I went to the movies this summer were before it came out, and after it came out, but I went with Eric 2 times and we saw Batman both times. Well, anywho, the movie was AWESOME. If you like ABBA, you are pretty much DEFINITELY going to like this. I ABSOLUTELY loved the movie. I kept wanting to sing along to the songs, but was afraid that Tessa would think I was a weirdo! ha ha ha. Anyways, if you have a chance, DEFINITELY go and watch it! (or wait till it comes out on DVD and rent it, but it is a MUST see) This is probably my new favorite musical, I LOVED Across the Universe, but this one almost trumps it, I think.

Pics from Brandon

So, I got an email today from Brandon, and it included 9 pictures! They are AWESOME! Only 2 of them are of him. There are some of his new companion, Elder Evans, and there are alot of really pretty views. He and I had a thing with views. One of our favorite dates was when we went up to this lookout point, and danced to "Unforgettable" by: Frank Sinatra. Way fun! But anywho, here are the pics! Hope you enjoy!

EFY 2009 BC Interview

Dear Reader,

So, today I had my interview to be a BC. I have had a couple people ask me how it went, so I figured that I would just post it on here, and update all of you! My interview was at 4:00 today, Friday, November 7th. I found out this past weekend that my friend Mike "M-Sizzle" would also be in that group for the interview, so I was pretty excited to see him!

Yesterday, I was starting to get so nervous for my interview. I seriously felt sick to me stomach! Then, I called my friend, and also home teacher, Eric, to see if he could come over and give me a blessing. He did, and you would not believe how much that helped! It made me feel comfortable, content, and ok with whatever happens. If I don't get hired than I know that Heavenly Father has other plans for me for this summer. Whether it be spending time with Brandon, being an EFY counselor, working at in-n-out again, or planning a wedding. Either way, I know that it will be ok.

I woke up this morning at about 6:30, which is EARLY for me, and I got ready for work. I had a GREAT day at work. The class was so much fun (not as fun as my class from yesterday, but it was still good). Before I went to work, I laid out my clothes for my interview, so that when I got home from work I could just change fix my hair a little bit and then jam on out to my interview. Well, while I was at work, I got a phone call from KES (basically my boss) telling me that they had a check waiting for me at their office. (It's about time, I was supposed to get that paycheck a month ago!) So, when I got home from work, I went over there and picked up the check, then came home and got ready. And, for those of you who really know me, know that it only takes me 15 minutes, at the most, to get ready. So, I was ready to go at 3:15. That was when I started to get nervous again. As a way to get my nerves ok again, I had some toast. It was SOOOO good!

At about 3:35, I left for my interview. I was so excited to get to see my friend Mike, and was already starting to think of the questions that they would ask me in the interview. When I got there, I saw my friend Brittany Dahlin, and found out that she would also be in my group for the interview. I was finally starting to feel comfortable again. Brittany is seriously such a great girl, and I will be surprised if she doesn't get hired as a BC. She helped me out a lot this summer, and was such an example to me. Well, we went in to the interview and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. There were 4 of us interviewing, me, Mike, Brittany, and this guy named Christian, and then there were for interviewers, Lindsay Wilson, and then 3 other EFY people. They had us go around and introduce ourselves, tell our name, where we're from, how many years we have worked with EFY, and what areas we were applying for. After the other 3 had said how long they had worked with EFY, oh boy did I feel inadequate, but welcome to my life this summer. Then, we had to have a "discussion" amongst ourselves. The topic wasn't really all that easy to discuss, and I felt like we kind of got away from it a little bit, but it was good. Then, they asked each of us 2 questions. I felt like I could have answered the questions better, but honestly, that's how I felt last year too! ha ha ha.

So, now that I am home, I am sitting here writing this, and thinking... "I'm ok with whatever decision they make." If I don't become a BC, it's not the end of the world, and it's definitely not the end of EFY. I will continue to love and support EFY, and hopefully I will be a counselor! I feel like I did my best in the interview, whether it was good enough or not, we will just have to wait and see. I think that I will always feel inadequate to the people who have grown up in the church, but that is something that I will have to live with. Everyday I strive to be better, and to be a stronger member in the church, but only time will tell if I have done enough.

Well, now I'm off to find SOMETHING to do on this wonderful, COLD, Friday night.

Love you,
Terri

Election Results... WOW!

So, yesterday was a "fun" day for America. We were asked as citizens of the United States of America, to vote for a new president. Some of us fulfilled our duty, and others of us did not. As a country, we have elected Barack Obama as our new President of the United States. He is the first half African-American to become president, this country is sure evolving. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are told in the 12th Article of Faith that we believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law. Which, is why I will not "complain" about our new president. We need to sustain him, and support him. No, I may not have wanted him to win the election, but since he did, I will just have to deal with it.

Also, in other election news, I just found out that Proposition 8 in California passed! Which reinstates the definition of marriage, that it is between a man and a woman, and not a same gender union. I was really kind of scared there for a little bit, that it wasn't going to pass. Everyone that I had talked to while I was home this past weekend was "Yes on 8". But then, I was talking to my cousin about it yesterday and she was a big "No on 8" supporter. And, it got me scared and thinking, that there are probably many more like her out there in California. Most, if not all, of my friends back home whether gay or straight, were "Yes on 8" supporters. So, it got me to thinking, did the people who were voting "No on 8" really know what they were voting for? I don't know that they did. I don't think that they knew all of the facts. And, now that it's over, I'm not about to share them with you, I'm just saying for future reference, when there is a proposition up for vote that is going to effect SOOOO many people, everyone might want to check their facts. And, for those who are LDS, you might want to listen to the Prophet and our other general authorities, because I think that they know what they're talking about. They receive message straight from God, and I'm pretty sure that he knows all things, so it's good to listen to him.

Womanizer

So, I have fallen in love with this song. The beat is really good, and the music video is kinda funny. If, you ignore the fact that she is naked in part of it! lol. Click on the title of this post, and you can watch the video.

I'll Be Home For Christmas... You Can Count on Me.

So, I just got home from a nice weekend at home, in California. And, I'll admit it, I didn't want to leave!

Thursday night, we left around 6:30 to head home. I was a little excited for the car ride, but at the same time, dreading sitting in a car for 9-10 hours! We got into St. George around 10:00, just in time for me and David to get some in-n-out. It honestly was sooo good! I forgot how good it tasted. And, the fries were PERFECT! Sometimes the fries aren't the best, but this time... OH, so good! We got into Vegas at about 11:00 (PST), and I honestly could not wait to get out of that car. Not that I don't love David and Sam, and love spending time with them. But, it was getting horrible sitting in the car. We got into Barstow to get gas, and pulled off of the first off ramp, at the gas station there the gas was $3.59! It was ridiculous! So, we pulled back onto the freeway and got off at another exit where the gas was $2.69. I finally got home at about 2:30 in the morning, EXTREMELY exhausted. But, when I walked in the door, I was surprised to find my mom and my sister awake. They both gave me hugs and welcomed me home, then we were all off to bed.

Friday morning, after about 3 hours of sleep, I went to work with my mom. It was Halloween, so all of her students were going to be dressed up and having a party. It was raining, so the kids didn't get to have their "costume parade" but, they still had their little party in the classroom. In the evening, I went to visit a family that I used to babysit for. They were so excited to see me, and had no idea that I was living in Utah. The kids have seriously grown up so much! I honestly cannot believe that I have been babysitting them for about 5 years! Well, after that, I went and visited some of my old neighbors. After seeing the neighbors, Lauren, Mason, Hailey, and I went to go and see my dad. He took us out to dinner (and it was so yummy!) and then we went back and played dominoes at his house. He gave me a set of plates and mugs to bring back with me, and I took one of my blankets that was at his house.

On Saturday, I was hoping to get to sleep in. But, at 8:30, Lauren brought Hailey in and plopped her on my stomach, and woke me up. Then, Lauren got ready for work, and Mason took my dad to San Pedro to leave on his cruise. So, my mom and I got to watch Hailey. She is seriously the cutest little girl EVER! I honestly missed her so much! My mom took me out to lunch, to BJ's. BJ's is one of my favorite places to eat, and we don't have any out here in Utah, so it was really nice and refreshing to get to eat a yummy pizza and pazookie. Then, we went to Wal-Mart to go and buy me some flannel sheets, and they didn't have ANY. So, I then went to Target and got these really cute sheets. After that, we went home and just relaxed a bit. That night, Lauren, Mason, my brother Nathan, and I went to Knott's Scary Farm. It was so much fun! Brock and his new "lady friend" Jaz met up with us. I was so happy that I got to see Brock. He and I have missed each other ALOT. We got home at about 1:30 in the morning, and I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I was not looking forward to Sunday, at all. I woke up at about 9:30 and knew that I only had a few more hours until I had to leave. My mom made me some homemade chili, and it was SOOOO good! Then, when Lauren got home from her work meeting, we played some dominoes and I realized how much I miss that, while I'm living out in Utah. I miss playing games with my siblings, and just getting to spend time with them. It got to be about 1:15, and I realized that I needed to finish packing and get ready to go. So, I asked Mason if he would lift up the mattress to my bed, so that I could get underneath and grab one of my blankets that was down there. So, he did, and I climbed under to get the blanket. And, to pick up the Reese's pieces that he and Lauren dropped down there the other night. Then, he put the mattress down, and I was stuck under it! ha ha ha. He said, "Now, you can't go back to Utah." Then, he went and got Lauren to show her that I was stuck under the bed. After about 5 minutes of me being stuck under the bed, he let me out. It was kind of funny, but kind of sad at the same time. I realized how much they didn't want me to leave. But, I had to leave. David and Sam showed up at my house at about 2:30, and we were on the road by 2:35. It was a long drive, but I stayed awake the whole time. And, it's a good thing that I did. David dozed off for a second and swerved and we could have died, had I not been awake and yelled at him. We made it back into Provo at about 12:15.

It was a great weekend, and I hated having to leave. The worst goodbye that I had was with Nathan. He hates it that I'm out here, and did not want me to leave. He wouldn't even give me a hug when I left! But, now I'm back home in Provo. I brought back the set of plates and mugs, 6 new blankets for my bed and apartment, and about 6 pairs of pajama pants and shorts. I'm still trying to find out if I will be going home for Thanksgiving, it all depends on if I can find a ride out there. But, I will be home for Christmas, you can count on me.
