Dear Reader,
I was searching the internet for a good poem to use for my FHE lesson last night, and I came across this one. And, I feel like it describes my life perfectly.
The author is unknown
"Thanksgiving Day"
As Thanksgiving Day rolls around,
It brings up some facts, quite profound.
We may think that we're poor,
Feel like bums, insecure
But in truth, our riches astound.
We have friends, and family we love;
We have guidance from Heaven above.
We have so much more
Than they sell in a store,
We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.
So add up your blessing, I say;
Make Thanksgiving last more than a day.
Enjoy what you've got
Realize it's a lot
And you'll make all your cares go away.
And, I realize while I was reading this, that too many people take Thanksgiving for granted. Thanksgiving isn't just a day to sit and eat as much turkey as possible. (Although, that is what I thought when I was little.) But, it is truly a day to give thanks for all of the blessing we have. As a 20-year old college student, I realize that I don't have a whole lot, but what I do have, I've got a lot! I have the love of family and friends, I have the knowledge that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me, and I know that Jesus is my Lord and Savior and he was crucified and atoned for my sins!
So, I ask you, that you remember this Thanksgiving day all of the many blessings that you have, and don't forget them once the day is over. God doesn't stop loving you just because the day is over, he loves you 24/7, 365 days a year.
Love you!
