I had so much fun yesterday! I went to the Festival of Colors with some friends. It was so much fun, I only wish we had gotten there earlier. Basically what the Festival of Colors is, is this festival at the Krishna temple. And, I've come to find out that pretty much everyone in Provo goes to this. And, what you do is you go to the Krishna temple and pretty much have a full on color fight! You can buy bags of gulal color, which is basically this chalk like/talcon powder, that you throw at each other. So, think of a flour fight and then imagine it all being COLORED flour! It was pretty much awesome. We got there a little bit late, because it took us an hour and a half to get there, when it would usually only take 20 minutes, but because of traffic and construction it took us FOREVER! I encourage everyone to participate in something like this at some point in your life. And, I learned a lot about the festival from the people that I rode with. They are from Nepal, and do this every year at home. And, the festival is celebrating like these two gods fighting or something like that. But the colors represent spring. I don't really know, but all I do know is that it was AWESOME! There will be pictures to come soon!
So, I got a pretty awesome surprise this weekend! I was pretty much on cloud nine from 1:00AM, Sunday morning until pretty much now. Well, I was on my facebook, and all of a sudden, I get a message and a friend request, from this guy. And, I knew that I had seen him before, but who he was, I wasn't 100% sure, until I read the message. He was one of the guys that Brandon served with on his mission. They were never companions, but were in the same district for awhile, and lived together for awhile, AND he is from our home stake. We started talking, and he shared quite a few pictures of Brandon with me, and videos. He also told me that Brandon used to talk about me ALL the time. That anytime Brandon had his pictures out, he would start talking about me. And, that every night before bed, he would talk about me, too. It felt so good to hear that. As I'm sitting here at home, waiting for him, I sometimes wonder if he ever thinks about me or anything like that, and my question was answered. In the pictures and videos, it showed that Brandon is still the same goofball that I know and love, which is SOOOO good (I was a little worried!). Then, about an hour after talking with that guy, I get another friend request. And, I knew that I knew this guys name. He was one of Brandon's companions! I actually sent him some stuff in Brandon's Valentine's Day package last year. This guy, had a girlfriend waiting for him on the mission, so I guess that he and Brandon got a long great because of that. It was great, we talked about all sorts of stuff, and he also told me how much Brandon talked about me on the mission, and how much he OBVIOUSLY loved me. He also shared some pictures with me, of Brandon. And, it was seriously just awesome to get to talk to him. I heard so much about him through Brandon's emails, so I was excited! Well, anyways, I am just excited to now be friends with these guys. They both told me how great of a missionary Brandon is. And that they have both been blown away by him. They said that there is no need to worry about him not being focused on the work, because Brandon is probably one of the most focused guys down there. It's nice to have a little bit of my worries eased. And, I just wanted to share my exciting news! YAY for old mission friends!
I have no idea how to even write this, let alone handle this situation! OK, so there is this guy that apparently likes me. I know, you would think that's not a problem, right? But, no... it is. He likes me, but I don't like him like that. And, I feel really awkward. He asked me on a date on Friday afternoon, for that night. He said that his friends were going to go and get sushi and then bowling, and he wanted to know if I wanted to go with him. I told him that I may have plans with some other friends, but that I would let him know. But, I'll be honest, I didn't really want to go, because I felt totally awkward. So, I texted him and told him that I wouldn't be able to go, but that we should do something another time. (That was the polite thing to do, right?) Well, he then decided to ask me out for Saturday night (tonight). He asked me to go to a movie, that I have been REALLY wanting to see, so I said yes. Well, we went to the movie. And, let me tell you, it was HORRIBLE! I was thinking it was going to be scary. No, it straight up showed a girl getting raped, people getting their heads smashed in with hammers, people's hand's getting gnarled up by garbage disposals, and people's head's being blown up in microwaves. Seriously, not my kind of movie. When we got back to my apartment, he walked me up to my door. He then told me that his friends were going to be playing some board games at 10:30, and asked me if I wanted to go. I felt really bad, but I said no. I don't want to lead him on, which is why I said no. I went to give him a "one-armed" hug, before walking in the apartment, and he did a "two-armed", wrap around hug! I didn't know what to do... kind of awkward. Later, I texted him and told him that I had fun and thank you. He said that he had fun, and that NEXT TIME he wants to take me to a real scary movie. Errggghhhh... now, what I am confuddled about! How do I let him down gently, without breaking his heart? He is one of my FHE kids, and in my ward, so I am obviously going to have to see him for the rest of the semester. I would hate to have to flat out tell him that I'm not interested. WHAT SHOULD I DO???
No, I can't want it anymore. Something has changed within me. Something is not the same. I'm through with playing by the rules of someone elses game. Too late for second-guessing. Too late to go back to sleep! It's time to trust my instincts. Close my eyes, and leap! It's time to try defying gravity. I think I'll try defying gravity, and you can't pull me down!
I'm through accepting limits, 'Cuz someone says they're so! Some things I cannot change, but 'till I try, I'll never know! Too long I've been afraid of losing love, I guess I've lost! Well, if that's love, it comes at much to high a cost! I'd sooner buy defying gravity Kiss me goodbye! I'm defying gravity, and you can't pull me down!
So, I've been thinking A LOT lately, and I've realized that I don't really care what anyone else thinks. People may think that my dreams are impossible, but I want to prove that they're not.
Everyone deserves a chance to fly, and if I'm flying solo, at least I'm flying free... no wizard that there is or was is ever gonna bring me down.
Those that think they can dictate my life, who I love, or who loves me. You are the wizard, you are the gravity that has been holding me down. And, I think I'll try defying gravity.
So, today is St. Patrick's Day... YAY! It's more of a "make believe" holiday. At least for me, anyways. I'm not Catholic, and I'm not Irish, so why is there a reason to celebrate this day? I remember when I was little, getting so excited for St. Patrick's Day. (I also remember getting excited for EVERY holiday that was ever talked about in elementary school, but that's besides the point.) Well, my mom would always dress Lauren and I up SOOOO cute in green. Lauren and I thought it was so cool that once we were dressed, we'd go in and wake my dad up and see if he was wearing green, and if he wasn't, we'd pinch him! (Mom made sure to tell us that we were only allowed to pinch Dad, and DEFINITELY no one at school!) I just remember St. Patrick's Day was so fun, because for dinner, she'd dye all of our food GREEN and tell us that the leprechaun snuck into our kitchen while the food was cooking and turned all of our food green. Oh, and I remember she'd make chicken nuggets (we surprisingly weren't big fans of chicken nuggets) and she'd tell us that they were like lumps of gold! My mom was so creative and made things so fun. I know that it sounds weird, but I cannot wait to be a mom and get to do these things with my own children. I did it with the girls that I used to nanny, and they thought it was AWESOME! This year, I was so excited for it to finally get close to St. Patrick's Day, because Mc Donald's serves these shakes called Shamrock shakes. They are seriously... AMAZING! When I was little, my dad loved them, so he'd take Lauren and I through the drive-thru for Shamrock shakes, and we'd get to share one. For those of you who don't know what a Shamrock shake is, it is a GREEN mint shake. I guess kind of like mint-n-chip, but there is not chip to this mint. And, they are so good, and just remind me of my childhood. And, they also remind me of last year, when I got my appendix out, on the way home from the hospital my mom drove through Mc Donald's and got me a Shamrock shake and french fries, because I couldn't eat real food yet. Well, anyways, this has been ENOUGH rambling for me on this fabulous SPRING St. Patrick's Day! I hope that your St. Patrick's Day has been tons of fun!
I am married to the love of my life, my best friend, Justin. I am a mother of a wonderful baby girl, Elizabeth. Justin and I both love being parents, and wouldn't trade the sleepless nights or tears for anything.
